ACT - Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.

We all have bad days but sometimes a situation, emotion, or thought pattern becomes so pronounced that it starts feeling like it's running your life. Our approach to therapy can help you break out of the cycle and regain control.

The first step is easy. Schedule a free introduction and talk to a licensed therapist about what's going on. Not only can talking about it help, but you can decide if we're the right fit for you. If it seems like we can't help, we'll be happy to guide you to someone who can.

Hi, I'm Ted. I have a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Syracuse University and a license to practice in the state of Utah (CMHC). In the last 15 years I've worked with addiction, severe psychological disturbances, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship dysfunction to name a few.

I believe working toward a more values aligned life is at the center of healing and growth. In my work I've noticed that a lot of difficulties can be traced back to living in a way that is ...

THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

Many enter therapy because they want some symptom to go away (anxiety, lack of energy, distractibility, or just feeling"stuck" to name a few). We get wrapped up in these symptoms and, quietly, they start running our lives. We overeat, drink too much, isolate from relationships, or become really reactive. Most people don't realize this is happening. But they see the symptoms get worse. Then they lean into their coping. Then the spiral starts.

We use Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help our clients develop psychological flexibility because almost 55,000 studies support this approach for changing behavior and improving mental health. ACT teaches you to pay attention to what your emotions are telling you, look at the automatic behaviors that are making things worse, and develop tools that allow you to respond in healthy ways.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy can help with:

  • Anxiety Disorders

  • Depression

  • Bi-Polar Disorder

  • Perfectionism

  • Shame

  • Feelings of Worthlessness

  • Life Transition

  • Attachment Difficulties

  • Grief/ Loss

  • Trauma

  • Co-Dependency

  • Substance Abuse*

  • Disordered Eating*

  • ADHD

  • Breaking Family Patterns

  • Self-Sabotage

  • Psychedelic Integration

*We will only treat cases that are mild to moderate and appropriate for outpatient care. Severe cases may require inpatient treatment.

YOUR INVESTMENT

glasses perspective.png

Therapy is an investment in your mental health and wellbeing. The return you should expect to see is a radical change in the way that you see the world and live your life.

Our therapy fees are $200 per session and it could take around 10 sessions to start seeing meaningful results. While you'll have many payment options, real change will require a substantial personal investment from you.

So, before you commit to beginning therapy with us, it is important to ask yourself a few questions:

  1. Is the outcome I'm hoping for worth an investment of $2,000 or more?

  2. Am I prepared to stick it out for 10 sessions even if I don't see immediate results?

  3. Am I willing to surrender to the process, to fully engage, and to follow through with homework?

  4. Do I trust the therapist and/or therapeutic model?

If you can honestly answer yes to all of these questions, you are ready to start.
